Our summer

The summer went by in a blink so I'll do a photo recap. Pictures are what everyone likes best anyway, right? ;-)

In May, we buried my dear gramdma. She was an amazing example of a woman following after God. A woman devoted to family and the Lord. The memory of her and her actions and words still inspires me...

We made granola - lots of it! My aunt got me this 30-quart mixing bowl awhile back and I luuuurv it! My use it all the time and for our big family it is just what we need...

We had a stump removed in the backyard and before we dealt with the cleanup, the kids got to play...

We finally (after searching several summers in a row) found some monarch caterpillars and watched them turn to butterflies in our every-good-homeschool-family-has-one-mesh-butterfly-home. Here is Solomon holding it before its wings were dry...

Jude turned 11 (how did that happen? He was only born like 4 years ago). In our family the birthday person gets to choose whatever dessert they want for their birthday and mom/me makes it. We have some fun stuff. I always choose caramel apples for my September birthday. Jude chose fondue...

We helped my sister and her great husband move into their new home...

We did some nature studies. We also raised tadpoles and had a frog for awhile...

We went to the beach a lot and Dinah ate a lot of sand. What is it with babies not minding sand in their mouths??

We put an ice rink in our backyard last winter and it was a great, but we learned that our yard was not as level as we thought. So my husband (as would any self-respecting man who wanted to provide his family with the best possible ice rink) needed to borrow a bobcat (of course he did) to shave all the grass (okay, weeds) off the top, level it and replant grass. He did a GREAT job and here he is playing in the sandbox with the boys...

Dinah turned one and we heard that at first birthday parties you get cake on your faces...
